Giraffe sculpture craziness!

as if still sorting, packing up our stuff
the last minute decisions
to completely renovate the upstairs bathroom isn't enough
we still had a giraffe sculpture to create and deliver before Xmas
and......
oh yeah...we still have two more to create!
now...we sold our sculptures and our whole mass of metal to work from!
yikes!!!
the giraffe is done and delivered as of today!!!
whew...made the Xmas date!
Many have asked what is involved in creating a sculpture...
ahahhaha
a great sense of humor,
patience as we (hubby and I plus sometimes others) are working together
and sometimes what I describe does not translate to them!
So here is a long story of creating the giraffe sculpture from my side of it
and
the sculptures side of it ....
the sculpture you say....
YES
the metal speaks to the artist,
as the forms takes shape it talks to the artist too
soooo.....
my inspiration photo!

metal selection
we have to look at every aspect of the metal pieces in the
collection work pile
an I spot the neck and jaw piece as well
as the horn thingy's

ahhhh yes....I just found the giraffe jaw, neck piece
oh...I sure hope we have 2 of these for the horn thingy's

 oh yeah...that's the piece.

into the cellar as it has snowed and is cold out

ahhh yes funky sexy shoe feet for giraffe
the legs are old sleigh runners
appropriate for legs I think!
oh yeah...hind legs and all....had to have the guys torch off
and reset the legs as I didn't like the stance...
am going for the illusion of him walking
so the round piece for his back quarters is tilted somewhat too
Now the sculpture is starting to talk which is the fun part...

Giraffe....Hey! hey! I'm looking like a part ostrich, part giraffe here people

 Giraffe....oh that's better...not gonna look like a funky bird thing after all...whew!

Giraffe...umm hey someone....horn thingy's and ears please

 Giraffe...that's better
 Giraffe...what no tongue???

Giraffe...hey....what's that guy doing back there???
 Giraffe...oh cool....like'n my tail!

Giraffe...hey did ya have to take my head off to move me???
really now!
 Giraffe...wait...wait...where am I going???

Giraffe...hey no snow here...how come they had snow
and two mountains over no snow??
I don't care...my feet aren't freez'n anymore!

Giraffe...hey Bon ummmm little more help here
they've got something wrong!

put down the damn camera and help!
 Giraffe..whew...I'm one piece again..

Giraffe....yup they gave me a tongue so I can stick it out at people!!
Giraffe....finally those damn people are leaving me alone...
think I'll go for a stroll an check out my new home
 Giraffe...wait...what...what are you doing??
I'm a WHAT???
Christmas present??!!
Giraffe...oh well this isn't so bad
Giraffe...mahhhh ...I stick out my tongue to you all!

I'm awaiting my new owner Kathy to find me..
Do you think the bow will give me away???

"Ice Dancer" and huge tasks done

hubby jinxed himself yesterday
we woke to a light dusting of snow

as he looked out the bedroom window he said
" great snow over all the ice, I might as well just fall and get it over with"
well you know the ending here....the proverbial jinx
I left to go do shopping as NOAA predicted a heavy winter storm for the next day
As there are some many beautiful iced rocks I stopped and took some photos on the way home
this really caught my eye as it looks like a ice step into an ice tunnel way!

I arrived home with the few groceries we needed
first clue he was not okay was when he started towards me and was not moving all that well

hubby knew where the yak tracks were...we own several pairs.
checked him for a dislocated shoulder...checked the elbow for damage
checked his leg..no feeling in fingers of left hand..hummmm
he tells me a small stump covered in snow got him and he went down hard
got acetaminophen into him, ice on shoulder/elbow
tough restless night
we awoke today and so much for our "winter storm" today
it started out ice then turned to rain

A lot has gotten accomplished in a real short time lately

I mean the big stuff ..stuff that hubby had the task of dealing with
that was really getting to me as it was not getting done
they are not the "usual"
things people moving have to get rid of

First Tawanda...our 780 Case Hoe/loader
long story but a major job getting her out of where she was (blown oil pump)
She's been sold, moved off the hill and gone to her new home

She was a good 'ol hoe

hubby sitting in her for the last time...he's still bummed that I had many more operating hours than he did!

Then the next huge and I mean huge things to get sold!
A friend who owns and is still creating fabulous sculpture gardens had asked us a couple
years ago if we would make a sculpture for his garden
we did, he wanted a bicycle arch

As we created more sculpture for other people...Richard heard we were planning
our move to Alaska...
"I want to buy your sculptures...all of them!"
waaahhhooo....all our steel pile is now gone as well as the sculptures
Can't wait to go over and see where in the massive gardens they end up.
check out his garden sanctuary!

http://threesisterssanctuary.com/the-grounds

this is the dragon head in his garden that I was a contributing artist creating it
check out what this beautiful creatures head sits on

"Cosmic Bowling"

"Ziptron"
 "Beaky"
was made for and now resides at the Sear's home

"Round-to-it"
 "Celtic spiral"
created for and resides at the Beaudre's home

yes we still have two pieces to make, one a giraffe and the other some sort of Celtic design again

All this taken care of is a huge relief for me!

I have now finished staining/sealing the final 6 doorways in the house
now install door knob etc
Big ass generator I bought was delivered Friday...after more than 11 days without power
last winter and only having a very small generator...it was time
plus it will move with us to AK as it will power a whole house and run for 10 hours!!!

All is going well in the Jepson household now...
so much so I am not going to even get into the leading up of mayham an murder
averted!!! hahahha

The start of possible impending mayham and murder!

...yes I am okay....

I just hit the proverbial brick wall in total frustration

with not being able to decompress in some way.

My blog was suppose to be my alternative to meditation practice, outdoor activity, photography, computer, etc!

Having hubby out of work and home for over a year and under foot has been challenging to say the least!

he is who he is and has always been....for 33 years....he'd go to work for 8-12 hours a

day 6 days a week and I handled everything else except for mowing the lawn!

Now I am one who, when things seem overwhelming
deep breathe, set a plan, get organized...

kick into high gear

making this major move after living in the house for 32 years
is a major undertaking

with renovations, sorting and purging of items/stuff

I expected of him to kick into high gear, pitch in

work as a partner in everything

that needs to be done....

So I returned from Alaska...still wound tight due to some issues that did not sit right with me

these issues still bug me

I have compartmentalize that an will deal with it later

it is best to separate the emotional aspect in order to understand

a situation clearly, unprejudiced

week upon week as I added more and more to my list of things to get done
when I left for Alaska I had left a list of things that hubby needed to deal with

I returned to only one job of many on his list done

yes it was a big job...paint, put finishing corners on the workshop building

For months friends made jokes of his not getting his list done

hahaha...it was funny and

expected

given that this summer was unmercifully sweltering hot here

After many sleepless nights, up painting at 2:30 a.m.,

long long days of non-stop endless tasks

I felt like I was in this alone

I stopped an found a way to decompress somewhat
Thank you Faith!

furious instant messaging and sound questioning and advice...

finally realized why he couldn't accomplish the tasks he needs to deal with as he was/is

totally overwhelmed and couldn't/can't get it together....

I need to be at his side and work with him which is not what I wanted to do....two of us

doing different tasks to me gets things done quicker.

Now that I have come to terms with this

things are back on track and progressing

without me being totally off the wall in frustration!

mayham and murder adverted!

I did get to go out a shoot with one of my new camera's and that was good
so here are some of the photo's

yes it has been a long time...there are reasons for this I apologize!

this is a short apology for not updating and I promise to do so soon....

I warn you though...

it will be several chapters of averted mayham and murder accounts

I started this blog so that friends and family could keep up with what was happening in our

lives and for others who are interested in what it takes some to make the move to Alaska.

Now I am a person who would believes and lives by:

never do to others what you do not want done to you

that being said

I would never intentionally hurt someones feeling, post something that would divulge any

information that could be used against some one or such

From day one I have been being told...don't post this, take that off, please don't mention this or that...

Well...I've had it....this blog I created for me...

for what I and Dan are personally going through with this preparation for the move and the move itself..

and as of right now....I've had it with all the depressed, paranoid,  fearful people who want to control what I post ...sooo...

Piss off all of you...

they say that building a house together can cause enough stress that couples split up

well so can a move of this magnitude as far as I can see...

don't get me wrong...we will work thru it

alot has happened since I last posted

things that have stopped me dead in my tracks....

more later and no sorry no photos with this rant! sorry!
