well that was an interesting trip up!

Murphy's Law strikes!

had a 3 1/2 hr lay over in Philadelphia...no problem
checked into the boarding gate early upon arrival...3 1/2 hrs early mind you

hungry so off I go to get something to eat, stopped by the bookshop to grab a paperback book as I am a veracious reader

go back to boarding gate..check that flight is on time..yup
US AIR lady comes in and announces that all passengers going to Frankfort Germany the gate has been changed...
flurry of people scampering, grabbing bags etc and run as this announcement is the plane is boarding now!
no advanced notice apparently....

soooo....
I ask this employee if the flight to Anchorage is still at this gate and on time...yes it is she replies.

so I settle in with my book as I have 1 1/2 hrs until boarding time.

again this employee comes in looking for passengers for the flight to Germany...mind you..no intercom announcement has been made regarding this.
yup should have been my clue right there buuuttt...nooooo

again I ask about my flight...again told yes this is the gate and flight is on time. I start to read and a couple sits next to me ..as they are telling me they have a 3 1/2 hr wait I glanced at my watch...YIKES!

Holy crapweasel...it is 3:45!...no plane is in sight..no personnel so I grab bags and run down the concord...

I stopped at the next boarding area and start asking if anyone is going to Anchorage! NO...on to the next one...same question...YES they just boarded and they have un-docked the boarding shoot
you can't get on the plane!

so off I go 3/4 aways back thru the airport to find the service counter....by now I am making phone calls as my friend who is picking me up thinks I am landing at 9:45 pm

Long story shortened here...I did scared the crap out of the service person into booking me on 2 flights, one not with the airline I had booked though as I was not waiting until 6 a.m. in the morning for a direct flight.
Hell we had fishing plans for early morning!

So off to SeaTac airport...then hang around for my next flight.
by now I have been up for about 24 hours...
leaving SeaTac was spectacular!
Fireworks being set off everywhere and from the air it was beautiful....if I had known I would have taken my camera out and not stowed it in the overhead compartment.

Okay soooo...finally I land in Anchorage at 12:45 pm! yayyy...locate my checked bag that went on with my original flight that I missed..

Robert picks me up and we make it to Wasilla by about 2 a.m....crash time....but I am up an moving by 6 a.m.

yup Murphy's Law strikes again...boat set to roll.
Robert, Rick and myself..headed to Long Lake to launch the
boat and do some trailer repairs (new poppets) for our trip down to
Homer tomorrow...
but a mile down the road at a stop sign another car driver tells us there is smoke coming off the tire of the boat
trailer....crapweasel..

Robert and Rick check'n out the locked up brake
we were at the interesection by the old railroad station
so I took a short walk for photo's while the
brake cooled off enough to do anything with it

remember to click on any photo to enlarge
also go over to the photo link on the side
Alaska Adventures 2011 to see photos
all of the one's I took today are here
but in the coming weeks not all will be
on the blog but in that link folder

Rick going down the road to see if the road is thru road so we can test drive and see if the adjuster was turned the right way to free up the brake..

well made it back to the house and it is now 4 pm and still working on it!...still busting butt to make the trip to
Nikiski for me to get my car and them to continue to
Homer to fish.
I will meet up with them in a day or so to go out fishing. I need to deal with some things in Nikiski..
stay tuned to see if we have shaken Murphy off!
