YES!! love it when something thought lost isn't

well today is my last day here in Homer
bummer...I sure am going to miss Faith and Fat Freddie!
They have opened their door, embraced me with hugs upon arrival,
given me a place to stay, fed me and
ohhhh the sharing of ideas for house building and other topics of conversation
fabulous!
I even get a "good morning to you" happy dance in the mornings
from Faith!
Now... what I thought was lost ....
Had an incident with my camera's CF card, could not read it so all the photo's
I had taken of the ride down to Homer from Wasilla were virtually lost.
The loss of these photo's really really pissed me off.....why??
Robert and I drove this long haul together way back in 1982
and here we were once again doing the long haul...memories
well I kept looking at the card and figured...what the heck
nothing gained by not trying something with it...so with a sharp instrument
I started by scrapping the plastic around one of the many pin hole that looked damaged,
after several tries...
Eureka!
magically I could read the card and access the photo's
so these photo's are from the first week of being here in Alaska
Robert's and my drive 7 hour drive down to Homer for fishing!

this is us replacing the poppets on the boat trailer

finally headed out of Wasilla for the long haul to Homer
normally a 6 hour drive but took us longer due to hauling the big boat
and Rick following in the pick-up with camper
some of these photo's are blurry or taken through the front windshield
as Robert is driving at about 55 miles per hour~
no time to stop for photo's as we are on the fishing mission...
too many delays already
 Wasilla headed into Anchorage

 Anchorage

hauling such a big boat thru downtown Anchorage is a pain
glad Robert is use to doing this..yikes!

 Heading down Turnagain Arm

 fuel/snack stop...the pick-up with camper for the
fishing trip

 tide out on Turnagain Arm

ahhh...Homer Spit finally...set up fish camp

Robert and Rick deciding which side of the ramp to launch from

 underway with Capt Robert!

heading out of Homer boat harbor

all the ugly condo's they built on Homer Spit

time for Barrett to learn the ropes of piloting the boat to the one of the favorite
fishing areas 17 miles out to sea

Barrett caught the first Halibut but Rick caught the big one for the day!
Do the fish dance Rick! do the fish dance so we all can catch a big one too!

fun day fishing....
again click on any photo to enlarge and be sure to click on the photo over to the
right side that is titled "Adventures in Alaska of 2011" for all the photo's taken
